Más vale astucia que fuerza

En el mundo de los animales casi siempre impera «la ley del más fuerte». Y en el nuestro, ¿crees que es igual?

En una selva lejana se instaló un tigre con ganas de armarla. Aparte de ser enorme, este felino mataba y engullía sin piedad varias piezas diarias poniendo en peligro el equilibrio de la jungla.

El resto de los animales, alarmados y entristecidos, decidieron entregarle cada día al gran sanguinario a un miembro de una familia, empezando por los más mayores. Y así lo hicieron hasta que les tocó el turno a los zorros. Y cuando el abuelo zorro estaba a punto de marcharse para ser sacrificado, su nieto dijo que él mismo ocuparía su lugar.

El pequeño zorro se plantó sin miedo delante del tigre y comenzó a reírse compulsivamente. El gran felino, desconcertado, le preguntó por qué se reía, y el pequeño le dijo que otro tigre le estaba quitando buenos bocados. El tigre, enfurecido, le dijo que le llevase ante tan terrible rival. Se pusieron en camino y muy pronto llegaron a un profundo pozo. El zorrito le dijo al tigre que su colega vivía allí dentro. El felino se asomó al pozo y al ver su reflejo en el agua, con una expresión tan feroz, no se reconoció y pensó que era el otro tigre. Y entonces,... se tiró de cabeza a las oscuras aguas para luchar a muerte con su reflejo.

No siempre gana la fuerza: la inteligencia puede ser una alternativa interesante para triunfar. ¡Hagamos músculos mentales!

Cleverness is better than force

In the animal world, the «law of the jungle» is in force. And in our world, do you think it’s the same?

In a faraway jungle a tiger took up residence with the wish to stir up trouble. Besides being enormous, this feline mercilessly killed and devoured several animals each day, endangering the equilibrium of the jungle.

The rest of the animals, alarmed and saddened, decided that each day they would give this bloodthirsty brute a member of a family, beginning with the oldest. And that’s what they did until it came the turn of the foxes. And when grandfather fox was about to march off to be sacrificed, his grandson said that he would take his place.

The little fox stood without fear before the tiger and began to laugh compulsively. The great feline, disconcerted, asked him why he was laughing, and the little one told him that another tiger was taking good food away from him. The tiger, furious, told him to lead him to that terrible rival. They began their trip and very soon reached a deep well. The little fox told the tiger that his colleague lived inside it. The feline leaned over the well and when he saw his reflection in the water, with such a fierce expression, he didn’t recognize himself and thought it was the other tiger. And then... he dived into the dark waters to fight to the death with his reflection.

Strength doesn’t always win: intelligence can be an interesting alternative for winning. Let’s do some mental gymnastics!
