Mágica sorpresa

Te imaginas que tuviésemos poderes sobrenaturales y pudiésemos cambiar de aspecto todo lo que quisiéramos?

Un hada llamada Gwendoline se dirigía al congreso anual de hadas que se celebraba en la isla de San Malo, en Bretaña. Llevaba su libro mágico y su varita, y caminaba con paso firme por la playa. A Gwendoline le encantaban esas reuniones porque allí se encontraba con hadas amigas y comentaban todo sobre hechizos y pócimas de última moda. Pero lo que más le gustaba es que se reían mucho y lo pasaban francamente bien.

Al cabo de un rato a Gwendoline se le ocurrió recitar unos versos que le permitían andar sobre las aguas para acortar la distancia, y así lo hizo. Pero calculó mal sus fuerzas, y a mitad de camino comenzó a sentirse fatigada, pero que muy fatigada. Pensó en transformarse en gaviota o en colibrí, pero sus fuerzas estaban tan debilitadas que había perdido todo su poder mágico. Siguió caminando como pudo hasta que... sintió algo en el zapato: ¡una pequeña ostra! Gwendoline se puso tan furiosa que cogió a la ostra para echarle un mal hechizo, pero algo sorprendente ocurrió: cuando la ostra cayó de nuevo al agua, comenzó a crecer y crecer hasta convertirse en una isla, hoy conocida como la isla de Verdelet.

Cuando las cosas no nos salen como esperamos, no hay que desanimarse, sino ver la parte positiva y convertirlo en experiencia.

The Tired Fairy. Traditional French Tale

Magic surprise

Can you imagine if we had supernatural powers and could change our appearance as much as we wanted?

A fairy called Gwendolyn was going to the annual congress of fairies that was being held on the island of St. Malo, in Brittany. She had her magic book and her wand, and she walked purposefully along the beach. Gwendolyn loved those meetings because there she saw fairy friends and they talked all about the latest spells and potions. But what she most liked is that they laughed a lot and had a really good time.

After a while Gwendolyn got the idea of reciting some verses that would allow her to walk on the water to make her trip shorter, and that’s what she did. But she incorrectly judged her strength and at the halfway point began to feel tired, very tired. She thought about changing into a seagull or hummingbird, but she had so little strength that she had lost all her magic power. She went on walking as best she could until... she felt something in her shoe: a small oyster! Gwendolyn got so angry that she grabbed the oyster to cast an evil spell, but something surprising happened: when the oyster fell into the water again, it began to grow and grow until it changed into an island –today known as the island of Verdelet.

When things don’t come out the way we expect, we shouldn’t get discouraged, but see the bright side and make it into an experience.
